i decided tt i did not elaborate well enough on my previous entry. so a make up entry for tt. hehe. oh yah.. n i forgot to mention tt the toilets in gold coast are amazingly clean! for the entire duration i'm dere.. i oni saw one dirty toilet bowl. hehe.

ok nex. i shall announce my achievements. 1stly, i accomplished my 2 goals of education i set for myself. 1) to get A+ for a module and 2) to get 2nd uppers honours. in fact, for 1) i managed to get 2 A+s. hahah. i checked my final results in australia. altho when i saw tt i got 2nd uppers i din hav much exhilarated feelings, but i'm quite sure tt if i din get it i wouldn't b able to continue my grad trip happily. hehe. talking abt tt, in case some of u still duno, i went to Gold Coast for my grad trip. my photos will be up realli soon, when i'm finally done with all the captions. managed to go australia in the end, altho not with the original gang i had wanted to, and not to sydney and melbourne. hehe. hopefully i will manage to visit melbourne nex yr, with the original gang of frens. i've 18days annual leave to spare. so can probably plan a bit. (yes i'm feeling abit chuai3 tt i've 18days of annual leave. muahahaha..) n tt brings me to announce tt i've finally found a job. or rather, i'm finally wanted by a company!! (my whole update life story is linked so beautifully. hahaha) so anywae, i'm gonna b a civil servant as of 25th june 2007 (yes tt's my starting date). i've signed my life with PUB. and since i duno wat the chinese name of PUB is, i've conveniently told my parents tt i will b working for "shui3 dian4 fei4". hehe. well in case anyone of u is interested (and i happen to noe tt one of my sec sch fren is interested) i shall let u all in on the details. so now i shall start on my story...

PUB is the 1st company i applied for in my job search actualli.. (minus exxon mobil cos the application was done way b4 i started to go intensive on job search). so after a damn long period of time, they sms-ed me for an interview. it was kinda funny actualli. cos the sms came in 2 parts. and i received the 2nd part 1st. it went something like "if interested pls call asap at 6xxxxxxx". so i tot it was a tuition assignment cos i signed up with a tuition agency a long time ago. haha. but it turned out to be a invitation for interview when i received the 1st part. it's realli weird how most companies email/call for interview but PUB sms-es.. lol. so anywae i called the HR and asked for the details lah. den when i asked abt the job posn and job scope i'm interviewing for, the HR person said they'll tell me on the day itself. so i tot it's gonna be like a open hse, where the shortlisted candidates gather and they'll do a company presentation and den we will specify which posns we're interested in. but being kiasu, i still thought of ans to the Qs like "why PUB?" and "why you?" and also read up on the company's website, and even played this silly game in their website abt saving water. just in the morning b4 i went for the "open hse".

n luckily i did prepare myself, cos i went to the environment bldg, and i met one of my frens, who told me tt it realli is an interview. gosh. haha.. so i mentally prepared myself, and went up to the correct place. my fren said her interview was very short, only abt 5min. so i timed the other ppl b4 me oso (cos i'm early. hee) and true enough, each person is only abt 5 min. but i went in, n my interview lasted abt 10-15min. so when i left, i wondered if tt means i had a betta chance or i screwed up tt's y i need more time to explain myself. but anywae, the interviewers are apparently quite impressed with my cca records (which is supposed to have equipped me with leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills). haha.. den they told me an array of the job scopes they are hiring, and asked me to indicate my inclination. den they said "ah, you did community svc, so u shld hav no problems with communicating with the public". tt made me quite worried, as i'm not sure tt i realli hav good enough interpersonal skills to handle the public. and dreadfully, this line appeared in my job scope. i mean if i'm supposed to interact with clients, i can put on my professional air and talk abt technical terms. n i'm quite sure they'll treat me professionally too. but it's totally different when it comes to the lao2 bai3 xin4 okie. need a different set of interpersonal skills. i can already imagine a whole load of uncles/aunties surrounding me and scolding/complaining to me.

so anywae.. abt one day b4 i set off for gold coast, as i gather with my grad trip frens to discuss stuff for the trip, PUB called me and offered me a job. project engineer it is. n told me tt my honours will make a difference to the pay. wah i tell u, when i knew tt i finally got a job, it's like one big burden gone, the entire feeling oso different le. haha. i guess i did feel kinda depressed when i still couldn't get a job after hunting for months. n did i tell u all tt i set another goal of finding a job b4 i leave for grad trip? i had initially given up tt idea. but i guess i did achieve my goal afterall. hee

now to analyse wat i tink of my new job. frankly speaking, the down sides are tt i tink the pay is low, near my min limit of $2.3K le, and that it's not entirely related to chem engin, which is wat i've been looking for. and the perks are that they've 18days annual leave, and i believe the welfare of govt boards will be good. and upon receiving the details of the welfare, i mus say i'm quite pleased with it. tho i haven compared it to other companies. haha. and after doing some thinking, the job is actualli not too bad lah. i used to harbour the tots tt "it'll b good if my new company gives me a laptop" and "if can wear nicely and work in an office environment oso not too bad". and the PUB job is gonna fulfill the 2 tots, tho the laptop part is still not too confirmed. hee. so altho recently i've been tinking tt i would realli like to have a job tt is chem engin, this PUB job is fitting to my expectations quite well i guess. well in any case, i'm still running for a job posn in this jap company, which is dealing in a industry tt i would realli like to be in. but i'll admit the interview din go well. and i guess if i realli get the posn, it'll b a tough choice btw PUB and the jap company. :)

i tink i covered mostly of wat i've to say. hehe. recently alot of ppl hav been telling me tt civil servants hav pay increase. I M REALLI LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. haha.. but i shall try to not harbour so high hopes in case realli dun hav u noe. HR din call me to tell me anything. n oh, civil servants are also supposed to get a mid-yr bonus of half month salary and $220 in july. HR says if i join b4 30th june i may b considered for this. i'm not harbouring much hopes for the half month. why shld they gimme when i jus started work rite? but i shall continue to pray for the $220. the pay mus increase la i tell u!!!! hahaha.. otherwise i'll probably feel inferior to all my chem engin frens, who're getting a much higher pay den me. hehe jus joking lah.

after mia-ing for so long guess it's time for me to do some updates of recent happenings.

1) Grad trip
went to gold coast with leeying thelma and weide. itinery includes farm tour, movie world, sea world, dream world, adventure parc, horse riding and cararra mkt. Looking bac, the itinery wasn't realli fascinating, jus some theme parks and stuff. but the experience dere was quite cool. practised my map reading skills, exerted myself physically in adventure parc, shopped in supermkt overseas, duno how to describe la hehe. overall it's not bad. oso got to noe more of leeying, how good she is with directions, how motherly she is, albeit her easily tired nature. hehe. photos will be up SOON ok. hahaha

2) NUS results
not sure how many of u noe. throughout my nus life i've been fighting to up my honours. started with low 3rd class in yr 1. n thereafter set my goal to b 2nd uppers when i did extraordinary well in sem 3. checked my results in the gold coast hotel reception cos i was in aussie when results were out. all i can say is, congrat me. i achieved my goal.

3) Job hunt
yea.. sad story. after tons of frens securing their jobs with a good pay, i finally got mine too! just signed the letter of appointment and mailed it bac to PUB today. they offered me a project engr position. well pay is low, job scope is not entirely related to chem engin, but welfare is good. n the most impt thing is.. they want me!!! unlike other bu4 shi2 huo4 de companies. hahaha.. n they offered me just 1day b4 i left for my grad trip. so tt fulfills my goal of getting a job b4 going on my grad trip.

all in all, things are starting to go well for me. now is time to enjoy my 3 weeks left of holidays and buy more clothes in GSS!!!!
